🚐 #Vanlife

In the heart of a bleary New York winter day in 2018, my partner and I were itching to create something that could combine both a grand adventure with a way to contribute and create something in the EdTech space. Literally, over dumplings in the East Village that day, The Great Untold EDU was born. After a ton of saving, planning, and preparing, we bought a 1999 Dodge Ram Van to convert into an off-the-grid home on wheels and drove from the United States to the bottom of South America.

Along the way we hiked a ~20,000 foot peak in Bolivia, shipped our van around the Darien Gap in a container, and even traveled to the incredible continent of Antarctica! But it wasn’t all roses. Over the course of a year, we visited the hospital 10 times (including visits for a donkey bite that led to a months long rabies scare 😳) and our van broke down in the middle of the Atacama Desert which we had to hitchhike our way out of with a llama farmer and his wife. Needless to say I learned more about adaptability, resilience, and problem-solving than I ever have in my life!

While this expedition can easily be described as the greatest adventure of my life, by far the most meaningful, life-giving, and impactful part was simultaneously creating The Great Untold EDU. We took students across the United States with us to vicariously and virtually learn from our journey. We even got to visit them upon our return to the United States!

You can learn a ton more about The Great Untold EDU under the “What I do” section and check out some photos from the expedition here!

🧗🏻‍♀️Extreme Sports

I didn’t grow up doing many intense outdoor activities. But after living in Colorado for a few years, I’ve spent much of my 20s pushing my physical courage and bravery by attempting to learn some extreme sports like rock climbing, mountain biking, wakeboarding, skiing, and others!

Check out some of my favorite adventures below.

🍜 Food

I am truly a foodie!!! I think it’s the Singaporean in me! My Singaporean family and I joke that most of our time eating is spent planning our next meal. I love cooking and trying out new places to eat wherever I go. I love food so much, I actually created and hosted a food-centered web series for New York University’s Office of Interactive Media!

💻🌎 Travel Blogging

I spend most of my free time and devote most of my discretionary income to traveling! I am fortunate enough to have been to over 50 countries around the world and counting.

My Goals

I am passionate about storytelling, global competency education, creating incredible programs for learning and connection, entrepreneurship, using technology to help level the playing field, travel, and generally working to make the world a better place. I want to build things with impact.
